RM Auctions makes its highly anticipated return to Monaco, 11th-12th May for its biennial sale at the Grimaldi Forum. Held the same weekend as the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique, the 2012 sale follows RM’s record breaking Monaco debut in 2010 which generated over €33 million in sales with a strong 89 percent of all lots sold. This year’s auction, extended to two days, is set to build on these impressive results, catering to both automobile and motorcycle collectors with an elite, handpicked selection of blue-chip automobiles poised to cross the auction podium along with a magnificent series of motorcycles including the Saltarelli Ducati Collection.

Headlining the automobile offering are no less than 22 examples from the Modenese prancing horse led by a coveted 1957 Ferrari 625 TRC Spyder, one of only two produced, a handsomely restored 1966 Ferrari 206 S Dino Spyder, and a 1953 Ferrari 375 MM Spider with a successful race history.  Other notable entries include a 1950 Talbot-Lago T26 GS with a stellar period racing history; a competition bred 1968 Alfa Romeo Tipo 33/2 ‘Daytona’ driven by Nino Vaccarella; and one of the most raced Ferrari’s in existence, a 1948 Ferrari 166 Inter Coupé by Carrozzeria Fontana recently restored to concours condition. Beyond the automobiles, the sale will also lift the gavel on one of the world’s most famous racing boats, the 1953 Ferrari Hydroplane ‘Arno XI’, known for setting the world speed record for its class at over 150 mph, along with two exceptional RIVA boats.
