A tradition spanning over 25 years, RM's highly anticipated Monterey, California sale, held during the same weekend as the prestigious Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, returns to the Portola Hotel & Spa and Monterey Conference Center, August 17–18. In 2011, RM once again achieved the highest results of the Monterey week, generating more than $80 million in sales, the highest auction tally ever achieved on the Monterey Peninsula.

This year’s sale is set to continue the momentum, presenting an elite handpicked selection of more than 120 blue-chip automobiles to a global audience of collectors. Headlining the auction is the rare offering of two highly coveted GT40s including a competition-bred 1968 Ford GT40 Gulf/Mirage Lightweight Racing Car, used extensively as the camera car for Steve McQueen’s legendary film ‘Le Mans’and a strikingly authentic 1967 Ford GT40 Mark 1.

Building on RM’s reputation for presenting important and historic Ferraris in Monterey, the sale features more than a dozen examples from the Modenese prancing horse including a rare 1956 Ferrari 250GT LWB Tour de France ’14-Louver’ Berlinetta and an exceptional 1955 Ferrari 410 S Berlinetta by Scaglietti, the second of only four 410 S’s built. Coachbuilt highlights include a Pebble Beach ‘Best of Show’ winning 1938 Horch 853A Special Roadster by Erdmann & Rossi and a flawless 1938 Talbot-Lago T23 Teardrop Coupe ideal for touring or concours events.
