Rich and Jean Taylor of Vintage Rallies presents The New England 1000.
SUNDAY MAY 2O THROUGH FRIDAY MAY 25, 2O12
Springtime in New England. Nothing is more beautiful!
Join the party! Celebrate 2O years of driving fun with Special Gifts, Prizes and Surprises! Plus, nobody’s nicer than our car-loving “extended family group.” Great fun ahead!
SUNDAY, MAY 2O
We’ll assemble for an informal concours d’elegance at a brand-new luxury resort, Stowe Mountain Lodge, just down the mountain from Smuggler's Notch outside Stowe, Vermont. We’ll also have our overnight accomodations and dinner here.
Stowe Mountain Lodge is all natural rock and timber, very pretty, with an award-winning spa. There’s golf, tennis and hiking, plus charming Stowe Village is just a short drive away.
Stowe is convenient to I-89 and Burlington International Airport. We’ll pick you up with a new Cayenne or Panamera. We can safely leave tow rigs at Stowe Mountain Lodge for the week.
Jean has booked rooms for Friday and Saturday night, if you’d like to arrive early to explore this charming area. Call her asap.
MONDAY, MAY 21
We’ll revisit some of our favorite Green Mountain roads as well as Mount Ascutney on the way to dinner and overnight at The Equinox in Manchester, Vermont. A classic New England luxury resort that’s been exquisitely renovated, it dates back to 1769.
We actually stayed at The Equinox on our very first event in 1993. Since then, it has been totally restored inside and out, plus there's a nice new spa and all the usual resort amenities.
TUESDAY, MAY 22
There are so many things to do and see in Manchester!
We're planning a rally loop in the morning, then a free afternoon. You can drive up Mount Equinox, visit Hemmings Motor News or Robert Todd Lincoln’s Hilldene, engage in golf, sporting clays or fly fishing with Orvis. The Equinox offers horseback riding, an off-road driving school and even falconry lessons. Manchester is also the Outlet Center of New England!
We'll have dinner at a local gourmet restaurant and stay overnight at The Equinox.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 23
We’ll rally north and east through beautiful rural countryside, visiting historic spots, eventually making our way to Mount Washington Hotel at Bretton Woods.
Mount Washington is another favorite. We stayed here with New England 1OOO many times. Like The Equinox, Mount Washington has been totally restored. A grand hotel built in 1902, it has one of the most spectacular sites in New England.
THURSDAY, MAY 24
We’ll climb Mount Washington, the highest point in New England, then rally through Smuggler’s Notch back to Stowe Mountain Lodge for overnight and our 2Oth Anniversary Gala.
FRIDAY, MAY 25
Our event ends with a leisurely breakfast at Stowe Mountain Lodge.
And New England 1OOO is over till next year...except for new friends and great memories!
(Schedule subject to added delights.)
